The Collection My daughter and I were talking the other day.  I commented on my love of drawing women, and how I was, sort of, collecting people.  My daughter said "That's because you're a serial killer."   I was shocked.  "I'm not a serial killer!" She said, "Dad, you're collecting women, and when you want someone to pose for you, what do you ask them?" I smiled and answered, "Be my victim."  (I love horror movies) And so the collection was born.  A charcoal series of nudes and semi-nudes.  I am currently looking for models. It's been a long road getting back into my own work.  I took on several commissions last year and I've found out a valuable thing.  I don't do well with deadlines.    After a year of working on other people's projects I'm finally back doing my own work.  I love it! I'm going to attempt to crank out as much artwork as is humanly possible.  Of course, work and family will take up a great deal of my time, but the time I have left, I'm devoting to art.  Cross your fingers and say a prayer for me. I hope to have more images to show off very soon.

The commission pieces are starting to take off.  I'm finding out that I have much to lax a personality to contend with deadlines.  I must become more disciplined in starting a piece and sticking to it until completion.  I have far too often gotten 3/4 of the way through with an image only to sit it down and forget about it for a week or three. Thank goodness I know that I'm that way, so I've been working hard to start projects early to give myself more time. And now... back to the work.
